Angel is portrayed by actor, David Boreanaz. He is a vampire, who has existed for over 240 years. Cursed with a soul more than a hundred years ago, Angel struggles to deal with the evil of his past while trying to atone for it in his future. He lived in Sunnydale California and fell in love with a vampire's worst enemy, the Slayer. Their love was forbidden and Angel eventually moved away to L.A. Cordelia Chase, the rich popularity queen turned struggling actress is played by Charisma Carpenter. Cordelia attended high school with Buffy Summers and friends on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series before moving to Angel as her character searched for a way to make a living and realize her dreams after her parents went broke. Cordelia took a job working for Angel at his investigating company and grew to be an integral part of his life and the efforts to protect innocents. The visions she acquired in the first season help Angel and she progresses with each episode into an even more independent and strong female character amongst the males of this series.
Wesley Wyndam-Pryce is portrayed by Alexis Denisof. Wesley began as a watcher for vampire slayers, but complications arose and he was fired from his job. He turned to the job of a "rogue demon hunter" and teamed up with Angel and Cordelia to put his skills to good use. He evolved from nervous and stumbling character into a strong leader who put his life on the line on repeated occasions for other people's sake. He even took over Angel Investigations, making Angel an employee after some rocky situations between the gang. Charles Gunn is a no-nonsense guy who led a group to fight evil on the streets. The character is played by J. August Richards. After the life of his sister was taken by a vampire and Gunn was forced to stake her, his motivation to do his work became greater. Angel came to him for assistance with certain cases at first, and soon Gunn had a paid job with Angel Investigations. Gunn attempted to keep tied to his street crew, but his dedication to Angel's team proved to be stronger.
